Israel and Jordan

Ronni and I just returned from a marvelous two week Tauck Tour of Israel and Jordan with fond memories and lots of photographs which are posted on my website http://www.gorback.com/

Matt Curran, our fabulous tour director, greeted us in Tel Aviv where we spent three days exploring Israel's second largest city and adjoining Jaffa. Tel Aviv is a thriving modern metropoplis. Jaffa is 4000 years old, with biblical and Roman ruins. There we visited the historical districts, museums, and had one of our many fantastic eating experiences. It was hard to decide which was more interesting eating or sightseeing. I think I gained six pounds on the trip.

After visiting Caesarea, a biblical city built by King Herod, we arrived in Haifa. There was a visit to the Baha'i Gardens with a trip to the Sea of Galilee and Nazareth the next day.

Akko, a sea port, which dates back to the time of ancient Egypt, was our next stop. With a visit to a mosque, we learned about Muslim history. After another great lunch, it was on to Jerusalem for three days. Jerusalem has so much to see and learn about. There were biblical sites, museums, and shopping for Ronni.

We visited Masada, another of Herod's cities. Bethlehem and Jordan were next, with a visit to the Church of the Nativity, Jesus' birthplace.

The Dead Sea, with a stay at the the beautiful Movenpick Hotel, and a trip to Jerash, an archeological site near Amman, were wonderful. Our trip concluded in Petra, one of the modern "Seven wonders of the world." There was exploration, camel riding and dining.

This was probably our best vacation. The people, the food, the accommodations, and learning made it a great trip. If you're ever considering a visit to Israel, Tauck is the way to go.
